P & C - Community involvement
Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.
Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)
Minmi Public School enjoys the support of a strong and active Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association. Our P&C is made up of parents and carers representing students from all year levels across the school.
As a proud member of the NSW P&C Federation, we are committed to ensuring access to quality public education for all students, regardless of gender, cultural background, socio-economic circumstances, or academic ability. The P&C provides a vital link between families, the school, and the wider community, recognising that educating our children is a shared responsibility between home and school.
Joining the P&C is a great way to meet other families, get involved and contribute to our school's future. We would love to have you on board!
Who is the Minmi Public School P&C
We warmly welcome all parents, grandparents, and carers in our PS community to become involved in the P&C – it's a wonderful way to be involved in your child's education and support our school. We also have an executive committee that carries out the decisions of the P&C. Every year at our AGM we call for nominations for executive positions. The 2025 executive committee is:
President: Scott Melling
Vice President 1: Nicole Brown
Vice President 2: Luke Layzell
Secretary: Mandy McQuade
Treasurer & Canteen Supervisor: Katrina Melling
Uniform Shop Coordinator: Jessica Crothers
Minmi Public School, although small, has a strong and active Parents & Citizens Association (P&C). The MPS P&C is a group of parents and carers with students across all stages.
As part of the NSW P&C Federation, we are committed to free public education for everyone, regardless of gender, cultural background, socio-economic status, and academic ability. The P&C supports parents, carers, and local community members to be a part of that process. We believe that educating our children is a joint responsibility between both parents and teachers.

What does the P&C do?
Our P&C supports MPS in many ways. We run the canteen and uniform shop, run and co-ordinate community events at the school and fundraise to help purchase school resources. We also meet regularly to talk about relevant topics, listen to ideas, and make decisions.
The functions of the MPS P&C are to:
- Enhance the educational, physical, and aesthetic environments of school for the students
- Provide financial support and resources to the school
- Operate a uniform shop
- Operate the school canteen and deliver healthy food options
- Promote and support school events
Through fundraising, the P&C is able to contribute to the school in a number of ways. This includes the provision of learning resources and programs, enhancing the school playground and outdoor environment, and sporting equipment.
- Our contributions to Minmi Public School in the last few years include:
- Obtaining a grant for the outdoor learning area
- Obtained a grant for the nature play space and continued fundraising to further add and improve the area
- New laptops and charging stations
- Subsidising ‘The Resilience Project’ program
- New uniforms for our soccer and netball teams
- Sun shelters/gazebos for sports days
- Canteen appliances
- Year 6 outdoor tables and chairs
We are responsible for the operation of the uniform shop and canteen which both run on Fridays, as well as providing food and drinks at special school events such as Book Week, Education Week, Grandparents Day and the Mothers and Fathers Day breakfasts just to name a few.

Join our P&C
Joining the P&C is a great way to get involved with the school community and meet other parents and carers in a relaxed, inclusive environment. We welcome people of all interests, skills, and availability, and you can become a member at any point in the year.
Formally, P&C members can vote on matters raised and decisions taken at P&C meetings. Members will receive a copy of the meeting minutes regardless of meeting attendance. Membership costs $2 per year.
To be able to continue the work that we do, we need support from parents and carers. We simply couldn't do it without you! If you are interested in becoming a member but unsure about committing your time, you can rest assured that there will never be any obligation to give more time than you are comfortable with.
Can I become involved if I am not a member?
Volunteers do not have to be P&C members to support our projects and donate time. Here are some examples of ways to get involved:
- Do a shift in the school canteen
- Support our events and fundraising initiatives
- Have a voice in our activities by attending
P&C meeting
The P&C meetings are held on a Wednesday night at 6:30pm in week 2, 5 and 8 of each term via Microsoft Teams. All are welcome. We also hold an AGM in term 2 every year where members can nominate for an executive position. You don’t have to be a P&C member to attend a meeting.
